The 1980s: How It All Began
The story of Alamein begins in the 1980s with its founder and visionary, Hamid Sabry. An artist at heart and a mechanical engineer by profession, Hamid brought his creative instincts to life by crafting classic furniture. His passion for design led him to explore the world of billiards, building exquisite billiard tables and even pioneering a billiard hall in Egypt.
The 1990s: Discovering a Niche in Play
The early 1990s marked a turning point for Alamein. Inspired by the needs of his own children, Hamid identified a significant gap in the Egyptian market playgrounds. He began designing and producing jungle gyms, swing sets, playhouses, and seesaws. This new line, dedicated to play, resonated with families across Egypt and continues to be a cornerstone of Alamein’s offerings.
Projects and Passions: The Nile Class
Beyond furniture and play equipment, Hamid’s creativity extended to unique projects like the Nile Class sailing boat. Designed to revive an old Nile racing sport, the project led to the creation of a sailing club and garnered media attention.
